This line of research arises from the need to modernize the current techniques of construction, which have at a standstill for decades, through innovation activities whose execution will modernize the building and maintenance procedures in the construction and the civil works, thereby reducing the times and execution errors

Adevice´s goal is to provide solutions based on smart devices and wireless sensing within the construction sector and to continue lines defined by PTEC in its Strategic Innovation Agenda:

  • Improve the competitiveness of the Spanish construction sector, increasing its technological level and productivity.
  • Increase security, reaching optimal levels of safety and health in construction processes.
  • Improve quality of life through the development of smart infrastructure.

The current lines of research in this field are:

Monitoring of structures

Obra civil

At present there are very few commercial products for structural health monitoring infrastructure. This monitoring is usually performed by trained personnel using expensive instrumentation and limited availability. These systems are not suitable for continuous monitoring of structures and are costly and slow to deploy and operate even during the construction process.

Adevice´s goal is to replace these classical systems of structural monitoring with a secure wireless communication system between sensors and a central control system.

This integral monitoring system will consist of sensors of temperature, humidity, solar radiation and accelerometers. In addition to a communications gateway that allows remote monitoring of the building, thanks to the interconnection between different communication systems.

Smart lighting systems in road tunnels

Lighting a tunnel leads to many problems such asthe construction of specific infrastructure and the electrical power consumption required to maintain it, especially during the day.

By implementing an integrated, autonomic and adaptive system of lighting road tunnels, Adevice aims to solve this type of problem, regardless of the road tunnel installation or the type of use. To achieve this it is necessary to adjust the lighting conditions of the tunnel depending on the exterior lighting and the presence or not of vehicles inside the tunnel.
