Solarkit
The University of Seville, through the School of Architecture of Seville and with the express support of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing of the Government of Andalusia, presented the prototype based on the research team around Professor Javier Terrados removable housing and the system "kit furniture."
Solarkit is a removable housing prototype, energy self-sufficient, adaptable to different locations and cost-effective. It represents an innovative architecture that provides all the living conditions of permanent housing, with the functionality and flexibility of light-weight, removable modular components.
It is based on an innovative construction system called "kit furniture". If instead of thinking about housing as the sum of a room or as the sum of the walls and ceiling, we decompose the functions of daily life such as eating, sleeping, watching television, washing, … and associate with each of them a piece of furniture, which would be built with modular dimensions (slightly higher than a closet) for assembly with others, we have the "kit furniture" house. The simple association of elements-furniture to create living spaces, sleeping spaces, spaces of hygiene, etc. Now, the house can be imagined as something comfortable and attractive, which also integrates technology to become a self-sufficient element using only solar energy.
