I3E project (Development of knowledge for the intelligent monitoring and control via the internet of energy efficiency in buildings) has been financed in 2009 by the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade (ref. IST-020100-2009-297), National Plan for Scientific Research, Technological Development and Innovation 2008-2011.

The overall project objective is to create a web platform that offers a service for remote management of energy consumption in buildings. Two case studies were conducted in two demonstrators located in different climate zones: Madrid and Seville.

This platform provides an analysis of consumption in buildings connected to it and offers value added services such as:

• Monitoring and display of consumption of each building in real time.
• Estimates based on historical consumption.
• Management of alarms and warnings.

This service aims to achieve three goals: reducing energy consumption of buildings, implementing a centralized control of all of them and status monitoring of each energy-consuming device.
